Terms of service

Read this first.

  • Writrun is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. No attorney-client relationship is created by your use of the service.
  • Writrun is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. §1681 et seq.). Reports may not be used for any FCRA-covered purpose, including employment, tenant, insurance, or credit decisions.
  • Writrun reports are research aids drawn from public records. Your firm makes all enforcement decisions and is solely responsible for any action taken.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or accessing Writrun, you agree to these Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, and our Acceptable Use Policy. You represent that (a) you are authorized to bind your firm or organization, (b) you are licensed to practice law in the United States or are acting under the supervision of such a licensee, or (c) you are an in-house creditor-rights professional acting on behalf of a creditor with a valid judgment.

2. The service

Writrun is an asset-investigation platform that aggregates publicly available records — including but not limited to court records, county appraisal and recorder data, Secretary of State filings, federal contractor and campaign-finance registries, and OFAC sanction lists — and presents them in attorney work-product format. Writrun does not query GLBA-restricted financial records, DPPA-restricted motor-vehicle records, or any consumer-reporting databases.

3. Permissible purpose

You may use Writrun only in connection with a bona fide creditor-rights, debt-collection, judgment-enforcement, litigation, or fraud-investigation matter where you have a permissible purpose under applicable law. Each time you submit a report request, you re-affirm that the request is for one of those purposes. You may not use Writrun for any FCRA-covered purpose, for stalking, harassment, intimidation, locating estranged family or partners, political opposition research, or any purpose that would violate the source records' access conditions.

4. No legal advice; no UPL

Writrun is a software product. We do not provide legal advice, and nothing in a Writrun report (including "recommended next step" sections) constitutes a legal opinion or directs your strategy. Citations to statutes, case law, or regulations are factual references, not interpretations. You and your counsel are solely responsible for evaluating, verifying, and acting on anything in a report.

5. Fees

Pay-as-you-go reports are charged on submission. Subscription plans renew monthly until canceled. Refunds are issued only for failed reports (no findings due to a Writrun system error, not because the underlying records contained no findings).

6. Confidentiality

We treat the contents of your reports as confidential. We will not share them with third parties except (a) to subprocessors necessary to deliver the service (listed on our security page), (b) as required by valid legal process, or (c) where you have given us written permission. When legally permitted, we will give you notice before responding to compulsory process.

7. No warranty of completeness or accuracy

Writrun is provided "as is." Public records change frequently, are entered by humans, and may be incomplete or wrong at the source. While we cite every source and timestamp every retrieval, we make no warranty that any report is complete, accurate, or current. Verify critical findings independently before relying on them in court, in discovery, in pleadings, or in settlement.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of Writrun is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, special, exemplary, or lost-profits damages, including but not limited to lost recoveries, sanctioned filings, or adverse rulings, even if we were advised of the possibility.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Writrun, HazyCapital Inc., and their officers, employees, and contractors from any third-party claim arising out of (a) your misuse of a Writrun report, (b) your violation of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or (c) any enforcement action you take based on a Writrun report.

10. Termination

You may cancel anytime. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law, with refund of unused prepaid credits where required. We reserve the right to refuse a specific report request without explanation.

11. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts of Travis County, Texas, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in-app and by email at least seven (7) days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance.
